Every summer, when camping at the seaside with my family, we went to a nice restaurant at least once during our stay to eat pizza. I remember being very excited about it. After a long hot day at the beach, we sat on a terrace, drinking cold drinks while our cheeks were still burning from the sun.
I ordered seafood pizza. It smelled of garlic and had lots of things on it, most of which I probably wasn’t familiar with. There was half of a clam with black shell and orange meat on top. (A Mediterranean mussel, I know now.) I knew it was a clam and I could eat it, so I ate it whole. (Yes, with its shell.)
I eat mussels with great confidence now, now that I know.
Have you eaten clams before? With shells I mean?
Do you have any food mishaps stories?
Until next week, cheers! - Mojca

I remember eating mussels right off the sea-stacks in Olympic National Park.
But I always had the shells taken off… lol!
And they were kind of raunchy… but the wildness made up for it.
But it’s true that going to a drive in after a day in the woods or the beach was heavenly.
Big thick chocolate shakes… burgers… all in Forks, Washington.
