My parents used to work in a bank. Some of the office supply tools were brought to our house and, with a bit of imagination and creativity, a bank office was set up on my desk.
We were always busy, clients had to wait in line (for which I apologised sincerely), cards were declined and furious phone calls were made. I loved the sound of pen scratching the surface of the paper, the brilliance of a homemade laptop and the seriousness of a rotary dial phone.
It was my favourite game of them all.
Whenever I have to do administrational work/write emails/prepare texts (such as this one!) and I find it hard to concentrate, I still do the same as in the bank office - I have my planner open to see, from the corner of my eye, all I have to do; whenever my smart phone lights up, showing a notification, I only take a glimpse of it as if ‘I’m too busy, will check it later’; and I need to have at least half of my desk neatly organised to show I have something under control. After all, it’s what I’ve learned when working in bank.
What was your favourite make-pretend game to play as a child?
Did you also play banks?
Until next week, cheers! - Mojca
