Dear reader,
I hope you are doing well. This month isn’t marked by any big adventures and Mercedes drives. I watched birds, made pizza and did some planning for the remaining months of the year – let’s say I’m planning to create 2025 calendar. Here, I said it!
You are receiving this letter either because you’ve subscribed to my monthly newsletters or my weekly comic Childhood Memories. Portfolio update
One drawing that I posted on Instagram became a hit! I was surprised to see such a big reaction. After receiving many compliments and pieces of advice (don’t forget to floss!) I decided to include the mole to the portfolio: he’s now showing off his brushing routine very proudly on my website’s main page.
Childhood Memories
This month, 5 new comic strips came out, the latest one being #61 Apple.
As September is just around the corner and kids will be back to school, Mojčica will put her school bag on too and shyly enter the classroom.
Comics are always available here. Thank you for reading them ♡ One more thing I wanted to share is this sweet recommendation written by Violeta:
Sketchbook Diary
I’ve discovered a simple exercise for ulnar tunnel syndrome. It consists of 3 sets of 5 repetitions on both arms. Here are the instructions:
Birds
Two exciting types of birds from this month are collared dove and wryneck!
Fortunate enough for me to see, there were doves nesting in the front yard. Parents were taking turns in taking care of their offspring for over a month until suddenly, two adorable young doves peeked out, being too big for the nest. If you look closely at the two photos below, you will see a tiny white tail from the second dove sticking out! I named them Oto and Toni.
In the back yard, two wrynecks were spotted eating ants. I’ve never seen them that up close before, so that was incredibly exciting. Did you know they are, in fact, woodpeckers?
Things I enjoyed this month:
✹ Hyukoh’s new album AAA. I’m thinking really hard on what more to say about it – Hyukoh is one of my favourite bands and so, my opinion is probably very biased. I’ll let the music speak for itself, maybe you’ll like (or love) it too.
✹ These two books: a graphic novel by Adrian Tomine (original title The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Cartoonist) and a novel by Bronja Žakelj. Both are autobiographies and share events from their lives, often wrapped in humour, but deal with very distinct topics. Adrian’s is about his career as a cartoonist, where he shares many embarrassing but funny anecdotes, while Bronja’s is about growing up, illness and dealing with death.
✹ Zoe’s post about choosing between digital and analog art medium.
Until next month! Cheers,
- Mojca
I love that Tomine book!
